Hotels in Warsaw: prices, timing and areas
Warsaw is the capital of Poland, a city of an Old Town rebuilt after the war and listed by UNESCO, the Palace of Culture and Science and modern office towers in Wola. Guests stay about three nights on average and split their time between the old town with the Royal Castle, museums such as POLIN and the Warsaw Uprising Museum, and walks in Lazienki Park and along the Vistula boulevards. This list has 6 816 properties, from a hostel bed to five stars in the centre. Below is what really drives the price of a stay in Warsaw: the month, the choice of district and the standard of the property.
When to book a stay in Warsaw for less
Warsaw is cheapest in winter. January is usually the bottom of the market, about 27 percent below the rest of the year, when tourist traffic is lowest and the weather is cold. February is cheap too. The priciest is late autumn, peaking in November, when trade fairs and business guests fill the city, and summer, in the festival season. The day of the week matters too, though in Warsaw it is safer to aim for midweek outside big events. For a regular trip, book roughly two and a half months ahead, as good rates in the centre disappear about 73 days before arrival.
What a stay costs by property type
Warsaw has a wide spread of prices, so a hostel bed and a family apartment are quite far apart. The cheapest sleep is in hostels and places below two stars; you pay the most for five stars in the centre. Below are indicative nightly rates for two people.
| Property type | Indicative price per night (from) |
| Hostel bed | from approx. PLN 95 |
| Room in a one or two-star place | from approx. PLN 230 |
| Three-star hotel | from approx. PLN 280 |
| Four-star hotel | from approx. PLN 360 |
| Family room or apartment | from approx. PLN 420 |
| Five-star hotel | from approx. PLN 480 |
Where a stay is cheaper and where it costs more
Most people look for a room in Sródmiescie, the heart of the city by Nowy Swiat and the Palace of Culture, and in business-focused Wola with its office towers. These areas usually cost more, but put the old town and the museums within a walk or a short metro ride. Cheaper options are the artistic Praga district with the Koneser Centre, as well as Mokotów and the area by Chopin airport in Wlochy, from where public transport reaches the centre. Below are indicative rates by district.
| District | Indicative price per night (from) |
| Praga, the artistic right bank | from approx. PLN 230 |
| Mokotów, south of the centre | from approx. PLN 250 |
| Wlochy, by Chopin airport | from approx. PLN 280 |
| Wola, the business district | from approx. PLN 320 |
| Sródmiescie, the very centre | from approx. PLN 330 |

When Warsaw costs more
The priciest time is late autumn, peaking in November, when trade fairs and conferences fill the city, and summer, when open-air festivals run, such as the Warsaw Summer Jazz Days and Jazz in the Old Town. Spring and autumn, April to June and September to October, are warm and comfortable for sightseeing. In winter Christmas markets light up the city and prices are at their lowest, especially in January and February, outside the holidays.
